Steve Jones - Fiberglass Hobby Master, Publisher and Author Steve Jones is a self published author of the highly acclaimed "Fiberglass Mold Making Manuals" series of step by step manuals on everything a hobbyist needs to know about how to make fiberglass molds for Full Size Parts and RC Model Cars, Boats, planes or fiberglass art. His Manuals have now sold over 10,000 volumes world wide. Steve was producing and selling his version of the Mach 5 Speed Racer Radio Controlled Nitro Car (On E-Bay), before SPEED RACER the movie even went into production. Steve had been a fan of the Speed Racer animated T.V.series as Similar circumstances surround the birth of the Helicopter Ceiling Fan. Steve has had a love for helicopters from a young age as well. One day it struck him as he was staring up at the ceiling fan in his fiberglass shop, now called the HANGER → that he had never seen a helicopter ceiling fan for sale anywhere online or off line. Ergo the first commercial Helicopter Ceiling Fan was born. Steve set out to construct the plug for the mold of the UH-1A Huey Helicopter Ceiling Fan. Now he could have gone out and paid $400 - $500 OR MORE for an RC Helicopter Scaled (Size .50), large enough to fit with standard 40 to 42 inch Ceiling Fan Blades. He also knew he could spend 10 to 12 man hours building the mold for a helicopter ceiling fan and have the scale fit the ceiling fan blade perfectly for about 1/2 the cost of buying a scale .50 RC Model off the shelf. So Steve set out to do just that. The Huey was completed in about 16 days, including building the mold. This model you see here to the left was the first production. Yes I photo-shopped in the sky ceiling for this shot, (The ceiling in his shop was just too ugly, as you'll see in other shots.), but it only hung there for 2 days before one of his patients came in, (Steve's ship is in the back of his Chiropractic Clinic), and bought it to hang over his Pool Table. He is a helicopter pilot from North Island Naval Air Station.
The Huey was the first model in production. Next was the AH-1 Cobra. Later models of the Cobra are complete with rocket pods, some in the Army Green finish have the U.S. Army insignia on them. I think we will eventually get to the point that folks will be able to order Helicopter Ceiling Fans without paint if they want to paint them whatever color or put whatever decals or insignias they want on them. If you have questions about color scheme, armaments, unit insignia decals or anything else for that matter, just click on Contact Tower and Steve will normally get back to you by the end of the next business day. Well that's it for the HANGER page. I just thought I would introduce you to Steve and share a little bit with you about how HelicopterCeilingFan.com came into being. So we invite you to take a look around, ask questions and enjoy. Best Regards,Web Developer - www.HelicopterCeilingFan.com |
